Guild Awards $36,000 in Scholarships to Advanced Candidates

The Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation has awarded $36,000 in financial aid to 32 individuals sitting for the Advanced Sommelier exam in 2009. These scholarships were awarded to candidates sitting for the April exam in Anaheim, the August exam in Chicago and the October exam in Las Vegas. Scholarships awarded range from $750 to $2,000.
The six coveted Société Mondiale du Vin scholarships were awarded to Elisha Baron of The Breakers in Palm Beach FL, Jared Fischer from Bussaco in Brooklyn, NY, John Mayfield of BLT Steak in Atlanta, GA, Mark Sayre from The Four Seasons Hotel in Austin, TX, Kevin Weeks of Canlis in Seattle, WA and Dustin Wilson from The Little Nell in Aspen, CO.
