Master Sommelier Scholarship The Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation awards scholarships to Master Sommelier candidates for the U.S. Master Sommelier Exam. The Number of scholarships awarded and the level of financial assistance varies based on number of applicants and financial need. Award amounts are based on demonstrated need. All candidates invited to sit for the exam will receive instructions on how to apply for a scholarship for their respective examination.
Rudd Masters Round-Table Held in the Napa Valley each winter, the Rudd Masters Round-Table provides ten (10) Master Sommelier Candidates with coaching, best practices study tools and networking.
Advanced Sommelier Scholarships The Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation awards scholarships to Advanced Sommelier candidates sitting for one of the three U.S. exams. The Number of scholarships awarded and the level of financial assistance varies based on number of applicants and financial need. Award amounts are based on demonstrated need. All candidates invited to sit for the exam will receive instructions on how to apply for a scholarship for their respective examination.
Enrichment Programs
Guild Members have the opportunity to apply for scholarship enrichment programs that allow them to travel to wine regions around the globe to feel the terrior, taste the wines and learn first-hand from producers. Enrichment programs currently include:
- South Africa - Supported by Vineyard Brands allows two sommeliers to travel South Africa for one week and visit the Cape Winelands.
- Tuscany- Supported by the Banfi Vintners Foundation allows five or more sommeliers to visit Tuscany for one week
- Wines from Greece – Supported by Wines of Greece and the Hellenic Foreigh Tradeboard allows two sommeliers to visit the wine regions of Greece for one week
- Germany– Supported by Wines of Germany and the European Union allows two sommeliers to visit Germany for one week
- New Zealand – Supported by Vineyard Brands allows two sommeliers to travel to New Zealand for one week and visit wine regions of the South Island
- Bordeaux - Supported by the SOPEXA and the CIVB allows four sommeliers to visit Bordeaux for one week
- Chile - Supported by Wines of Chile allows four sommeliers to visit Chile for one week
