Florence- Tuscany (Chianti) Winery Recommendations!

Hello everyone,

I will be in Florence September 20th-26th, and would love some recommendations for some wineries to visit! I would love to take a few day trips out of Florence to visit the wineries. Please let me know, any suggestions help!

Thank you,

  • If you go to Chianti Classico, I would suggest Fontodi, Querciabella, and Il Molino di Grace, which are all great for visits. I really loved visiting Cesani which is a small producer in San Gimignano. Marialuisa Cesani is a sommelier and winemaker there and also does custom tours in the region if you are interested: www.mytuscanwineandtours.it/wine_tours_in_tuscany.html
  • When I was there a couple of years ago, the families at Podere Campriano held an amazing tasting as well as cooked us a meal to go with their wines. It was outstanding!
Also the view at Montefioralle was picturesque and they make a great Vin Santo. I recommend packing a cardboard wine box that you can tape up and you as checked luggage with your case of wine that you are bound to buy while staying there.
If you have time, make the drive to Montalcino or hire someone to take you. We used Monika Iris and she was knowledgable and prompt.
  • Ciao Alexis! While in Florence feel free to stop in and see us at Antiche Dogane. We have a wide selection of Tuscan wines from small wineries. You can try a few, enjoy a glass, or chat with our Somms; Leonardo and Michele.
