I am looking for some good literature on South America and came across Descorcahdos. It's seems to be a pretty authoritative book on the area but I am really wondering what the balance between tasting notes and general information is. I am more interested in specific history, geography and producer profiles than any given vintage notes.
Anyone who has read it that can explain a bit more?
I recently took my certified qualification with the CMS to give you and idea of where I am at.
I don't have any insight on Descorcahdos, but Evan Goldstein's Wines of South America is pretty great and covers the major wine producing countries, as well as the smaller ones. Combined with guildsomm, jancis and internet searches, i felt that it was adequate for MS prep.
Thanks for the book idea
