Can anyone provide any information on best ways to secure a harvest internship for 2018? Currently studying for the Advanced course in June and really believe this is the next step in my journey.
Talk to the winery national sales people you've met
has tons of jobs. Usually pretty easy to land one, they are for the most part entry level.
Totally! You can even subscribe to a "harvest help email" and get alerted when new jobs post.
Also, it looks like you don't live too far from a wine region, Brandon. Just reach out to your favorite producers. Hiring has definitely started, so don't delay too much.
Also, just something to think about: harvest can be stupid hard work, longer hours than even the busiest restaurant, and you're wet the whole time. Make sure you want to be exhausted, in pain, and wet for 12 weeks before you jump in. Also consider that you may love it and cut your income potential down tremendously to chase a dream that will consume you.
Thank you all for the great advice! Although the hunt still continues. Cheers!
Brandon, Benziger Winery is having a harvest job fair tomorrow (Sat 7/14)
Fantastic winery and the chance to learn about biodynamics/organic/sustainable production.
I'm suddenly looking for someone to work harvest in Walla Walla if you're interested in heading to Washington. Message me if you're still on the hunt.
I have their sav blanc on my list and love it!
