Does anyone have recommendations for wineries on Long Island? Any specific varietals they are known for? Headed out there this weekend.
Did a search but the last topic was over 7 years old.
I like Channing Daughters on the South Fork.
Well to be honest, it is a lot of Bordeaux varietals, Chardonnay and Riesling. Quite a few wineries are playing with varietal Petit Verdot. Channing Daughters plays with some Italian varietals as well that work interestingly.
In the North Fork I'm a fan of Shinn Estate, Lenz, Paumonok, and Macari. Paumonok makes a very tasty Chenin Blanc.
McCall is somehow producing vibrant Pinot Noir on the North Fork. Their sauvignon blanc and chardonnay are also notable. Eric Asimov did an article on him a few years back. Also, the owner is often pouring the wines in the tasting room so you might get the opportunity to speak directly with him if you aren't setting up a special visit.
I agree with those so far. Also Check out Anthony Nappa http://winemaker-studio.com/index.html.
Spakling Pointe is making nice sparklers
Thanks all! Some really great recommendations. Looks like I'll have a full day, if not two!
