Anyone have any truly memorable dining experience recently in Napa Vally, specifically restaurants that are NOT on ritzy glitzy spa/resort tract? Looking for up and coming, or restaurants that punch above their weight class, so to speak, good food and wine without dropping $1,000 for dinner for two tasting menu/wine pairings.
I had the bomb experience and pair about 2 years ago a mininashi in downtown napa.. otherwise try the charter oak.
I believe Kelli White mentioned this in a previous post, but La Luna is excellent for post wine tacos.
If I end up visiting Napa when I visit my sister in Santa Clara next month it’s on the top of my list.
Compline is awesome... Biased towrds Roadhouse 29 in St. Helena as well!
Had a great meal at The Charter Oak in St. Helena last week.
The Charter Oak (St. Helena)
Goose & Gander (St. Helena)
Redd Wood (Yountville)
Miminashi (Downtown Napa)
Compline (Downtown Napa)
Basalt (Downtown Napa)
The Kitchen Door (Downtown Napa -- Oxbow)
Live Fire Pizza (Downtown Napa -- Oxbow)
Cole's Chop House (Downtown Napa)
Cordeiro's Steakhouse (Napa)
Another vote here for Charter Oak, Miminashi, and Compline!
La Luna is the place for tacos. Also, Café Sarafornia is the place for breakfast.
Don't forget PRESS in St. Helena!
Torc has a very reasonable Tasting menu along with wine pairing. I also love the Bounty Hunter for BBQ and a fairly diverse wine selection if you're up for something more casual. Both are in downtown Napa and are within walking distance of each other.
Torc is my favorite restaurant in the valley.
Wow, thank you all so much for these great recommendations! I now feel MORE than prepared for a gastronomic tour of the Valley!!
Here are some of my favorites.
