On March 5th from 11am to 1pm Wines of South Africa (www.wosa.us) will be hosting a masterclass for sommeliers, retail wine buyers, and journalists at The Biltong Bar in Buckhead. A dozen wines representing the quality and diversity of South Africa’s varied wine regions across the Cape will be presented. Jim Clarke, former top New York City sommelier, freelance wine journalist, and WOSA US Marketing Manager will put the wines in context, discussing terroir, traditions, and current trends. The class is free for members of the trade and media. We'd love for you to join!
Attending sommeliers will also have the opportunity to enter the WOSA Sommelier Cup 2019. An hour-long written quiz after the masterclass will be part of the first round. Similar quizzes will be given across the U.S. through the beginning of May, and the top five scorers will then be flown for the semi-final in New York in June. The final winner there will then go on to compete in Cape Town in September.
