Race to the Top offers sommeliers and wine professionals a unique way to compete for a trip to the region
Alto Adige announces that the sommelier and wine professional competition, “Race to the Top,” will happen for the second consecutive year, this time in San Francisco. Race to the Top offers participants the opportunity to literally climb their way to the wine region of Alto Adige.
Alto Adige Wines, the marketing body focused on the promotion of the wines of Alto Adige-Südtirol, will host the one-of-a-kind competition at StudioMix, a workout facility featuring a climbing wall in San Francisco on April 6, 2020. The competition took place in New York City last year.
Teams of three will include two group members answering questions about the region on the ground and one teammate on the climbing wall, advancing to a new “altitude” with every right answer from their partners below. The team with the combined fastest time and best score will win a trip to the region this summer.
Questions will cover a variety of topics, including key grape varieties, soils and DOC characteristics. Unlike other sommelier competitions, Race to the Top goes beyond sitting in a classroom and brings the region to life by incorporating characteristics that have a significant influence on the wines of Alto Adige: elevation & innovation.
A kick-off webinar the week of March 9th as well as additional study materials will be provided for registered participants before the competition. Qualified trade & press interested in participating are welcome to register at www.racetothetopsf2020.splashthat.com
The registration deadline is March 9, 2020.
