I have passed the intro and trying to move on to the certified. I haven’t had the opportunity to sign up for the certified, no spots available, nothing near me, I also want to take the deductive class first but I haven’t because of lack of availability. I want to keep up with my studying until the opportunity is right, what is the best material to use to study off of for the certified, how important is it to take the deductive class first?
The best study guides for the Certified are right here. Between using this expanded guides and in depth guides on this site. Follow the work on Google Earth and see these places. That will help to understand the regions as a whole.
As for tasting, the deductive tastings will help. But running through the certified tasting sheets consistently will help you prepare for the test.
Read and talk; Talk with fellow wine professionals, or even just people that truly enjoy a specific region. Generally they know more than most. Everyone has a niche, even if they don't know it,
Lastly, log onto mastersommelier.org and look at the resources, good examples of everything on there.
Thanks David that really helps, thanks for taking the time and helping me out!!
