Jason Caballero Joins the GuildSomm Board of Directors

GuildSomm Board of Directors Welcomes Jason Caballero of Scottsdale, AZ

The GuildSomm Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jason Caballero has accepted a position as a member of the Board. His tenure will officially begin on March 1, 2021 for a three-year term, with opportunity to commit to additional terms. As an active member of GuildSomm, Caballero will offer the Board distinct insight based on years of close engagement with the GuildSomm website, staff, and online community.

Caballero is the Wine Director for Maple & Ash, a wine-focused steakhouse in Scottsdale, AZ. Under his leadership, the restaurant’s wine program was recognized by Wine Spectator with a Best Award of Excellence. Prior to his current position, Caballero was Lead Sommelier at Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina in Scottsdale.

Caballero has worked in restaurants for over 20 years. He first became interested in wine while working at Mediterranean restaurant Olive & Ivy in 2006 and he has dedicated himself to wine education since then. He is a longtime GuildSomm member and says “A lot of my first interactions with the [sommelier] community were via GuildSomm. I was on an island in Arizona and there was no group of professionals striving to push each other.”

 

Caballero earned the title of Advanced Sommelier in 2017 and is pursuing the Master Sommelier diploma. He has become a recognized leader among Arizona’s growing wine community and continues to invest in the education of others as co-founder of the Society of Arizona Sommeliers, a group that offers mentorship to aspiring sommeliers in the Greater Phoenix area. The GuildSomm Board of Directors is certain that Caballero’s commitment to hospitality and educational excellence will make him an exceptional advocate for GuildSomm’s community of members.
