&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;That caught my eye as I&amp;#39;ve never seen a mention to it. In scanning over the most recent pliego, I didn&amp;#39;t see anything about it either outside of the single vineyard labeling which is new, but a different beast than single variety. Fully happy to be proven wrong on this as I&amp;#39;m just going by what&amp;#39;s in front of me.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have to assume that people do whatever they want as long as the text is smaller than all the legal elements. Don&amp;#39;t know why anyone would really want to shout that they&amp;#39;re making a Chard in Rioja anyways, but that&amp;#39;s just me.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;span&gt;Keep in mind that while Chardonnay was let in, Cabernet Sauvignon was shown the door but then the mutant Tempranillo Blanco was authorized as well.
