I was lucky enough to do a couple of weeks vintage in Portugal in 2018 and manage to squeeze in a trip to Madeira.

This article is beyond sensational and covers absolutely every facet of my own experience there! The visceral and technical information presented in such a seamless and elegant way really does deserve all the praise this writing has received over the years.

I was invited to a conference by the Mondavi Winery ( Constellation TRU ) in June and it was very cool to come across this resource on my return. I will definitely share with my team to promote the sale of Mondavi and To Kalon wine.

Looks like the new tax bill will drastically affect our profession as both houses are trying to remove almost all of the Miscellaneous Itemized Deductions.

As I understand it, all of the following are highly likely to be eliminated as deductible items: work-related travel, transportation, meal, and entertainment expenses; dues to professional societies; education (work-related); home office expenses; subscriptions to professional journals and trade magazines related to your work; tools and supplies used in your work; work clothes and uniforms (if required and not suitable for everyday use).

The only way I see around this, granted I've put about 5 minutes of time thinking about it, is to incorporate ourselves and write it all off as a business expense. That leaves the issue of getting our employers to pay us as a business rather than individual - and that can't be an easy task.

This is great Matt, humbling in the detail as always. I visited the chateau/tasting room in 2011 and they were very excited at the time about the impending push into restoring the inglenook name. I wish I had been a wine nerd at the time since I'd have gotten so much more out of the experience but it was still absolutely lovely. We loved our flight of the 2007 Rubicon, CASK Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc and their 2009 Blancaneaux.

Hey Matt, your research on the historical facts is so thorough, I'm surprised that there isn't any mention of the accolades Gustave Neibaum received when he took his Inglenook wines to the World's Fair of Paris in 1889 - and also equally impressive, the fame of John Daniel's 1941 Inglenook Cabernet Sauvignon?
