I believe this stems from the differences in posted laws on the INAO site, and the newer legislations found on the "legi-france" site that was used to create many files in the compendium.

I also have to say that I love your maps. They are my absolute favorite, and I've traced almost all of them onto another sheet of paper where I add all my relevant technical information for the region.

Unfortunately I have to also say that I've already ripped the cover. It travels with me back and forth to work (even though I have 2 "old" editions there), and i even read it on the subway despite its heft.

Do you want to know my favourite Champagne book? "A History of Champagne with Notes on the Other Sparkling Wines of France" by Henry Vizetelly. Although written as long ago as 1882 I find it so fascinating that I find it hard to close and put back on the shelf.

I bought a copy on the spot!

I had primarely used your 4th edition (original and revised) as my main source of information while studying for my Court of Master and WSET examinations. As you had done, I started making notes and map updates in the book as changes and promotions of appellations occured. Thus, the 5th edition will give me a fresh source to continue my studies with updated information and a new canvas to start anew with updates as needed. I must admit that your book is the first recommendation I provide when asked what wine book to buy to get the most general information about the world of wines. As a visual learner, your maps have been extremely important on my appreciation and understanding of where everything is located. Without them, I would had been lost! Great job and thanks for the extraordinary effort.

One last comment I would like to bring about regarding the chapter of grape varietals and your mention of Jancis Robinson's book is that another great source of information is Oz Clake and Margaret Rand's "Grape & Wines" book. I have found this book, alongside yours, to be the perfect 1-2 punch when getting into serious wine studying. I would had been remiss not to mention so.

Regards,
