A joint benefit for the Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation and the Olympic Club Foundation, the Ultimate Wine Dinner and Auction has become San Francisco’s most exclusive & extraordinary charitable wine dinner & auction.

On March 26, 2011, over a dozen Master Sommeliers and 18 vintners will gather at the prestigious Olympic Club Lakeside Clubhouse on Lake Merced to host wine aficionados at this incredible dinner.

Guests have the opportunity to meet winery owners and principals and to learn from the Master Sommeliers, considered the country’s foremost wine educators. 

The evening begins with a champagne reception and silent auction and concludes with  a sumptuous four course meal where each course is paired with wines selected by the table vintner host.

The Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation | www.guildsomm.com

The Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3)not-for-profit organization focused on excellence measures, development, inspiration and exchange of information for wine service professionals and wine enthusiast in the U.S. Established in 2003, the Guild is proud to support thousands of young sommeliers each year.

Major programs include scholarship programs that provide wine service professionals with financial aid to offset expenses associated with curricula and testing, mentoring of young sommeliers and wine courses taught to nearly 1,000 graduating seniors at six Universities across the country each year.  The Guild runs the TOP|SOMM The US Sommelier Championship  and Top New Somm Americas Top New Sommelier competitions which provide sommeliers with a vehicle to test their skills and knowledge.

Funds raised at the event will directly support the Guild's scholarship program for young sommeliers working toward the Master Sommelier certification. Over the last four years the Guild of Sommeliers has awarded over $350,000 in educational scholarships to sommeliers.

The Olympic Club Foundation is the philanthropic arm of The Olympic Club, America's oldest athletic club now celebrating its 150th anniversary.  The Foundation raises money to support organized athletics for less advantaged youth and is driven by the belief that participation in organized athletics enriches young lives, helps build character and develops future community leaders.

Grants made by the Olympic Club Foundation have given over 65,000 young athletes the opportunity to participate in organized sports, experience team spirit and gain self-esteem.

Since it's inception in 1992, the Foundation has awarded grants totaling over $3,000,000 to youth sports organizations throughout the nine San Francisco Bay Area counties. Funds raised at The Ultimate Wine Dinner & Auction will directly support the Foundation's grants budget for 2011.

The collection wines have been donated by the Guild of Sommeliers and the Master Sommelier and vintner hosts attending the Ultimate Wine Dinner.
