Can any recommend a good domestic Sangiovese to try?
I like the ones from Foxen, Unti, DaVero, and Staglin!
Reeve in Sonoma
Unti Vineyards Sangiovese Riserva, Dry Creek ValleyPedroncelli Alto Vineyards Sangiovese, Dry Creek ValleyGiornata Sangiovese, Paso Robles
Three Fox out of Virginia makes a pretty compelling Chianti-styled Sangio
Palmina from Santa Barbara is solid. K vintners and Leonetti in Washington do higher end examples.
Stolpman Sangio is tastyyyyyy
From Washington, the few I've found that are worth seeking out are Tranche, Novelty Hill, and the aforementioned Leonetti.
Another vote for Leonetti
I think they stopped making a Sangiovese about 5 years ago which is a shame because I agree, it was good. I could be wrong on that though.
Del Dotto makes a very compelling bottle, but winery only.
Vino Nocetto in the sierra foothills. Misto for a more chianti-like expression and Dos Oakies for a more brunello like expression
Though I'm not a huge fan of Temecula wine Baily vineyard has a pretty decent Sangio that I took home a few years ago
Their Carbonic Sangio is fantastic!
