I am looking for some other examples of domestic dry Riesling for btg. I am currently pouring Trefethen. Thank you.
Tatomer out of Santa Barbara is a personal favorite. Stony Hill is also good, though I believe off-dry in style.
Keith, check out Forge Cellars Riesling, 'Classique' for an incredible bone dry Riesling out of the Finger Lakes at a friendly BTG price. I see you are in San Diego so reach out to Winebow as they are the distributors.
Second Forge Cellars, it's killer.
Chateau Montelena makes some pretty delightful wines out of Potter Valley, and for FLX I'd second Forge and add Empire. Trisaetum out of Willamette has for me been far and away the best domestic rieslings I've ever tasted (and some of the best Blanc de Blanc to boot). A lot of producers around the country are on a kick using champagne yeast and cold fermentation - beware of these - they make wines that taste cotton candy like and lose all sense of terroir expression.
Look no further than the Finger Lakes! Ravines Dry Riesling exudes quality in spades and they’re only the tip of the iceberg in the region...
Oh and for California check out J Brix they make truly stunning, ‘natural’ juice from Santa Barbara specifically for their Riesling. Small yet mighty San Diego County winery.
Don’t know if you can get it in California, but Dowsett Family is outstanding.
I strongly recommend Red Newt Tango Oaks. Killer wine. Very low in alcohol content but doesn't lack flavor at all.
+1 for Trisaetum, Tatomer, and Forge
Ovum out of Oregon makes some pretty spectacular Alsace and Austria-inspired dry Rieslings. And I definitely support the Empire Estate (and Finger Lakes, in general) call out.
Empire Estate from Fingerlakes. Will shock and amaze you with its acid balance.
I would go to Oregon with Elk Cove, Argyle and Trisaetum. All dry and btg-able!
Big fan of Forge from Finger Lakes like lots of folks here. I personaly believe that Willamette Valley Rieslings are gonna be the next big thing, check out Tristaetum & Brooks (I've had luck contacting Brooks over social media [IG] and they have a library collection of rieslings that are incredible & a great value.
