Any recommendations on grappa based cocktails or anyone having success with interesting - effective grappa promotion?
Grappa Manhattan - 2 parts Grappa, 1 part Sweet vermouth, 1/4 part Maraschino syrup (from the jar), 2 dashes Angostura bitters. Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a stemmed maraschino cherry.
Grappacino - 2 parts Grappa, 1/2 part Amaretto, 1/2 part Simple Syrup, 1 part Cold Espresso. Shake all ingredients with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 3 coffee beans.
Grapparita - 2 parts Grappa, 1 part Limoncello liqueur, 1 part Freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/2 fresh egg white. Shake all ingredients and strain into a chilled margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.
We used to have 40 grappas by the glass at Zucca in Los Angeles. I found that tasting the staff on all of them and ensuring that they knew what the subtle differences were helped elevate their sales.
