What are these? Name 2!
Teinturier grapes are grapes that have red juice as well as flesh. Alicante Boushcet and Saperavi are two.
Yay and thank you to ALL of you for keeping my mind motivated and juicy with info!
i just found out that Gaglioppo from Calabria is one and another in Italy is Colorino.
• Pontac in ZA
• Garnacha Tintorrera (aka the already mentioned Alicante Bouschey) in Spain
I’ll leave the rest to the family to recite!
Vinhao from Vinho Verde and Dunkelfeder from the Nahe
Alicante Ganzin from France and its offspring (created by Dr Olmos at UC Davis) Rubired.
Teinturier is literally translated into "dyer" in French and indicates a variety that possesses both red pulp and flesh. Here in the Mid-Atlantic we see some Chambourcin, a hardy French-American hybrid prized for its ability to resist black rot and powdery mildew. Gamay also has some teinturier varients including Gamay de Bouze and Gamay Fréaux.
