Topic of the Week 1/23/2019 - Master

Clos de Goisses knowledge last week from  and . Thanks all! Well written and thorough.

This week: Chetillons!

Who bottles this? Where is it located? What are the soils?

  • Les Chetillons refers to a Lieu-dit owned by the house of Pierre peters since the 1030s in the Grand cru Village of Le Mesnil sur Oger. There are in total 3 plots of land where the wines from each are vinified seperately and then blended into a single wine for the vintage, the first of which is 1971. Soil there is mainly Calcareous chalk.

  • Pierre Peters bottles the wine from Les Mesnil Sur Oger. Blanc de blanc, Chardonnay 100%, produced from one harvest, vintage dated wine. Dosage come in round 4-5g/l. Calcareous chalk soil. An Oenotheque bottling has been rreleases, 02’.

  • Robert Moncuit also owns a 2ha parcel within Chetillons. Their first (and currently only) vineyard designated bottling was the 2008 vintage.

  • Blocked Malo, too.

Wonderful wine that can use much more age than the house gives it. Love Salon, but have a  desk jockey budget? This is your wine.
