Review Quizzes – ALL NEW!

Review Quizzes – ALL NEW!

We are so excited to announce that we've launched a brand-new set of review quizzes! We've been working on this project for a long time, and we are thrilled to finally share it with you. Find 2,000 new quizzes on 40 topics across three levels of difficulty in the Review Quizzes section, available via the menu at the top of the page. Each quiz has 10 questions, selected from a larger bank, so you'll experience a slightly different quiz each time you take one. You can take the quizzes as many times as you'd like, and your progress will be tracked.

A few things are still in development. The quizzes are not yet launched on the GuildSomm app, but you'll see them there soon. We are also introducing updated badges to mark your progress. Badges will be awarded when you receive a passing scores on all Beginner quizzes, all Intermediate quizzes, and all Expert quizzes. Those who achieved the three-glass badge for the old set of quizzes will receive a legacy badge on their profiles. If you hit one of these milestones in this first week or so, you won't yet see the badge, but rest assured that your progress is being saved, and these are coming soon!

As you'll see, we are using both a new software and a new format on the site. We've done a lot of review and testing, but there are bound to be some quirks or issues! Please don't hesitate to comment here or reach out to our editor (stacy@guildsomm.com) with feedback, questions, or comments. We always want to hear from you!

  • Great catch! Thanks for letting us know - we've fixed this.

  • Hi - just want to let you know that there is a question from Champagne & Sparkling wine section with the following phrasing: "What is Champagne’s mean temperature in degrees Celsius? " -> but the possible answers are written in °Fahrenheit

  • Hi Andrew! You're correct that multiple attempts at the same quizzes won't yield drastically different versions of those quizzes—they're really just slightly different, as described above. We have a bank of 15–20 questions per individual quiz, and you're getting a random 10 of those each time. The quizzes are increasingly difficult from Beginner to Intermediate to Expert, but within the given quiz, the questions are just presented randomly. Our goal here is to help you check your knowledge at these three levels, and these questions were developed to do just that. I'm not sure exactly what you mean by catalogue depth, but feel free to ask any follow-up questions or let us know your wishlist for future content.

These are, however, entirely new questions, without any overlap with our old set! We will continue providing new questions through our Question of the Day as well.

  • I was expecting a lot more range and quantity of questions for burgundy. each expert quiz is ~80% the same and after 2-3 turns you've basically seen all of the possible questions. I'm not seeing any difference in terms of catalogue depth. just a refresh of questions from old to new with the same relative range (specific to burgundy)
