Descorcahdos: Can anyone recommend it?

I am looking for some good literature on South America and came across Descorcahdos. It's seems to be a pretty authoritative book on the area but I am really wondering what the balance between tasting notes and general information is. I am more interested in specific history, geography and producer profiles than any given vintage notes.

Anyone who has read it that can explain a bit more?

I recently took my certified qualification with the CMS to give you and idea of where I am at.

  • The book is mostly focused on up and coming producers. Great resource to discover new wineries and see who the pioneers are in new regions like Austral. Didn't necessarily agree with the points given to the wines though and you shouldn't expect much in terms of breaking down of appellations and analysis of terroir.
