For the past few years, I've had the idea of getting some 1990's to open up on my 30th birthday. Lot of age for some wines and regions, but 1990 was also a spectacular vintage for many regions world wide- the grapes must have known I was coming ;)
Does anyone have experience with this year from any region? Any place or producers I should start hunting down?
Any tips are helpful,
I had a 1989 Veuve a few years ago that was still showing very nicely. Which Cuvee's from '90 do you recommend?
1990 LP “Grand Siecle” !!!
The vintage as a whole is showing nicely and will for a while. Chardonnay dominant blends are always my go to for vintage wines from the region.
Interesting factoid--Grand Siecle is meant to be consumed upon release and not aged any futher--not that LP makes this well known or publicizes it. Jancis Robinson talks about it in this article www.jancisrobinson.com/.../champagne-cussedness
Only a Rudd winner would know this ! LOL
Although rare, there have been single vintage bottlings of Grand Siecle such as the 1990.
