I am seeking recommendations for wineries and restaurants to visit during a two-day trip to Sonoma (day 1) and Napa (day 2) in mid-June. Given the spectrum of styles, I would like to mix it up with places having historic meanings as well as those that show modern trends. I would much appreciate ideas anyone may have. Thank you in advance for sharing!
For Sonoma restaurants I recommend The Farmhouse in Russian River (I used to work there), Girl and the Fig in the town of Sonoma, or Diavola in Geyserville. Downtown Healdsburg has lots of options.
Compline in the town of Napa had phenomenal food and wine selections, and service was fantastic as well.
Santa Rosa - Spinster Sisters
Glen Ellen - Glen Ellen Star
Rohnert Park - Hana
Second for Diavola
Napa - Torc
Yountville almost anywhere (Bouchon, Jeanty, Reddwood)
St. Helena - The Charter Oak, Acacia House, Farmstead.
Calistoga - SolBar
come visit me at Benziger winery in glen ellen, I can take you on a tour of the property and elevated tasting. also check out bedrock for classic ca. zins and few other wines, Pax cellars for syrah, and littorai for pinot noir. all in sonoma.
napa - call ahead and schedule trips to Mathiasson winery, Pine Ridge, Heitz wine cellars, storybook cellars, schramberg, -- all of these wineries do something very specific and give a great overview of napa as a whole. sonoma food, oso, central kitchen, napa, mininashi, goose and gander. addendum's fried chicken
Thanks, Geoff. These places look wonderful. Will make it a point to stop by while in Sonoma!
Yes, this place is definitely built for wine lovers. Very cool. Thanks for the recommendation, Roxy!
Jason, thank you much for the extensive list of recommendations! Now I want to extend my stay. Can’t wait to try at least a couple. Thanks, again.
Andres, thank you so much for kindly offering a tour and making great suggestions. Lots to study now. Truly appreciate your thoughtfulness — will let you know as my plan firms up. Cheers!
Café Sarafornia for breakfast in Napa (in Calistoga). La Luna Mercado for tacos in Napa (in Rutherford).
Sonoma's Best Wine Merchant, come visit! We are just one mile east of the plaza. Great selection of local producers and a very affordable tasting fee. Ask for Todd.
Thanks, Eric and Kelli! Comfort breakfast and tacos are a great addition to the mix.
Thanks, Todd! Will stop by when in town.
