I'm curious about the Italian Wine Maestro program that is offered through Vinitaly. I have contacted them and been informed that they have trained instructors who will be offering classes. However, I am unable to find any of the classes offered. I did find something on wine2digital.shop that appears to offer an online course and certification. Does anyone know anything about this?
I am in the Chicagoland area and would like to take classes there, but am willing to travel if necessary. It sounds like a terrific program for someone extremely focused on Italian wine, but how to get into the program?
For the record, the ambassador program requires WSET Diploma, But I only have WSET 3. I would love some help with this
I have taken a VinItaly "Italian Ambassador" class in Los Angeles this past spring and it is seriously in-depth with extensive coverage of everything from native grapes to appellations, producers, tasting profiles, etc. They are in the process of developing Maestro program right now, including training/certifying the instructors and finalizing the curriculum, so I don't think there are actual classes offered at the moment, but will be in the near future. I would not recommend the online class as VinItaly is currently revising its teaching modules, not to mention that the material is quite complex and even overwhelming. VinItaly just started being active in the States, and the link from Terry (above) contains their course offering for this year in the US or you can always go to Verona, which is their home base. As for qualifications for the program, I also have only WSET Level 3 and they were fine with that. Let me know if you want to know more about the course -- we can chat via emal firstname.lastname@example.org
