I'm organizing a wine tasting for Halloween (I know it's early) but I was wondering if anyone had some insight or knowledge of wines that have an eerie legend or background behind them. I'm not interested in anything that is "kitschy" and have a pretty good list working so far. I've exhausted all my research at this point and thought this would be the best place to turn to next for anything I haven't heard of yet. Thank you in advance for any help. Cheers!

Thank you Jason!!

Cool! Thank you Roxy!!!
What's on your list????
Agoston Haraszthy, founder of Buena Vista winery, met a spooky end. He disappeared in alligator-infested marshland in Nicaragua, but was also noted as the first town marshal and county sheriff of San Diego.
You rock Emily! I had Buena Vista on my list but was not aware of the story of Agoston...
This is before the short list : Gorgona, Chateau Montelana, Spirithouse Pinot Noir, Bulls Blood, Old World Winery Abundance, Muschelkalk Rot, Francois Baur Riesling Grand Cru Brand, Hex Vom Dasenstein Spatburgunder, Dr. Thanisch Bernkasetler Doctor Kabinett, Graveyard Vineyards, Buena Vista
I mean, fortified wines would have the most boos in them...
LOL..I have a Madeira on there as well.
More on Agoston's fascinating life in Kelli White's article from last year - including an illustration of said alligator that I'm pretty fond of ;)
Oohhhh, Thank you Stacy!!
I don't know if you're planning any printed materials or if it would be appropriate for what you're planning, but you're always welcome to use things like this that we've created! You can find everything under the Resources tab. https://www.guildsomm.com/resources/illustrations/m/illustrations/16516
