Master Cicerone Led Deductive Blind Beer Tasting Technique Feb 4

Learn Beer Tasting from Master Cicerone® Rich Higgins!

Monday, February 4 (6-9:30pm)

This year, San Francisco Wine School celebrates SF Beer Week with Master Cicerone® Rich Higgins!  Improve your palate, learn deductive techniques, and taste all that beer has to say! This is an eye-opening, essential class for all tasters, from novice to advanced, beer and wine fans alike.

Rich is one of only 18 Master Cicerones® in the world today.  He's also a former brewmaster, and a Certified Sommelier and has taught over 100 beer classes in San Francisco, New York City, Washington DC, London, and Hong Kong. This class promises to be fun, engaging, and incredibly informative!

We all know beer tastes delicious, but how do you notice all its flavors and interactions?  Beer is every bit as complex as wine.  You'll learn the system for sensory evaluation and blind tasting, describing a beer's traits, and knowing how it was brewed.

Master Cicerone® Rich Higgins will share a Deductive Beer Tasting Method that lets you “look under the hood” and hone your palate, isolating beer traits, building rich and accurate descriptors, deducing ingredients and techniques, connecting the dots between traits, technique, and quality. It’ll allow you to learn even more from beer -- it’s like getting to know an old friend all over again!

Whether you’re a novice learning to tell the difference between an ale and a lager, or an advanced taster differentiating between a Düsseldorf Altbier or a Cali Common, this tasting class is perfect for beer geeks, cork dorks, Sommelier, Cicerone® and BJCP candidates, and anyone who just wants to learn more about beer! Registration includes download access to the Method's Tasting Grid and Quick Reference.
