The German migration to Champagne, in particular Reims originate from the early 1800's when Lorraine was Germanic and it's inhabitant were attracted to the industry of textile that flourished in the region at the time and it's wealth creation. I would add to the list of producer of German decent Deutz that Wilhelm Deutz founded in 1838 after initially being a wine Negociant.
