I completed my CMS Introductory level, but am now thinking of going along the WSET path, as I think it will better suit my overall objectives based on the research I have done between the two.
My question is - would it be best to go into Level 2 first, or does the knowledge I have from the CMS Introductory level sufficiently prepare me to start directly in Level 3? Looking for your advise. Thanks in advance !!
I have taken and passed the tests for both level 2 and 3, for WSET. I scored very high on all of the tests, including a 96% on level 2. I was surprised how much harder the level 3 test was, compared to the level 2. The level 3 test seemed to be 200% to 350% harder than the level 2 test. By extension, it seems safe to claim that the jump from level 1 to level 3 is between 300% to 450% harder. Rather than provide advice, I am simply going to provide these thoughts, if the might help in making your decision
Thank you! I appreciate the information. I fully expect the Level 3 to be significantly harder than even the CMS Introductory exam. I guess what I am really wondering is whether the content of Level 2 is the same or similar to CMS Introductory, to the point that I would get a bit bored or complacent and that my money and effort would be best served going straight into Level 3.
Hi Roger, if you were really comfortable with how you performed on the Intro Exam, then I would suggest going for the WSET Level 3. I took the WSET Level 3 last year, after taking the Intro and found the jump to be relatively easy. Please shoot me an email if you have more questions.
Thanks, Steve! Much appreciated!
